How we ranked them (methodology)
The ranking is a blended, editorial view of two things:
- Independent rating strength — G2 and Capterra star scores.
- Market adoption — review volume and how widely the tool is used.
Apps with very high ratings and large review counts (for example Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud and SafetyCulture) sit near the top. High-rated but lower-volume tools (such as JobTread and Workyard) rank on rating strength. This is an editorial ranking for orientation, not a precise score — your own shortlist should always be driven by fit for your subsector, size and workflow.
Primary independent review sources used: G2, Capterra, Software Advice, SelectHub, TrustRadius, and the Apple App Store / Google Play. Where a vendor's profile is unclaimed or has too few reviews to be meaningful, that platform is marked n/a — treat it as "check live".
Consolidations to be aware of
The market keeps merging, so the live review profile for some products now lives under a different brand:
- PlanGrid, BIM 360 and BuildingConnected now sit inside Autodesk Construction Cloud / Autodesk Build (branded under Autodesk Forma on some profiles).
